History of Local Tucson Banks
When you’re in need of a new bank, one of the most important qualities a financial institution can possess is most likely stability. Especially when the economy is still reeling from the economic crisis and bank failures have become commonplace in its wake, it’s important to know that the bank you work with is steady and lasting. Luckily, there are plenty of Tucson banks with strong reputations that date back several years, if not decades.
Here are a few of the local banks in Tucson and a brief account of how they came to be a part of the city’s financial landscape:
Canyon Community Bank: This bank was founded in 2000 when local investors raised more than $6 million as an initial investment to buy a building and get the bank started. Canyon Community Bank was established in order to provide a locally-owned and managed community bank to residents of Tucson, a banking option that had not existed before.
Alliance Bank of Arizona: Alliance Bank was established in 2003 and has become one of the fastest growing banks in the country. This bank describes itself as a “super community” bank because it is able to provide a wider range of products and a larger credit capacity than most traditional community banks.
National Bank of Arizona: This bank was founded over 25 years ago with the mission of “building local relationships and providing exceptional customer service.” The National Bank of Arizona is a business bank, but it has also expanded to offer a complete array of personal banking products and services as well.
Commerce Bank of Arizona: Commerce Bank opened for business in 2002. It was created by Arizona businesspeople who felt there was a need for a community bank with a focus on small businesses and a customer-oriented approach. Today, the bank operates seven branches with 60 employees and has total assets of over $270,000,000.
